hr-chronos went on air on February 5, 2001. It was the successor to hr1 plus that went on air on January 5, 1998 as one of the four "plus programs" newly started by Hessischer Rundfunk (hr) in the then DAB pilot project Hessen and the previous hr medium wave program, a takeover of hr1 , supplemented by broadcasts of parliamentary debates, replaced.

history

In addition to hr1, the previous wave only broadcast special programs and the foreign language program that existed until the end of 2009. hr1 plus repeated broadcasts from hr1 and hr2 and supplemented the main program with further information and news broadcasts.

A good three years after the start of broadcasting, hr1 plus was renamed hr-chronos . A new program schedule and new programs made the program more independent of the "mother program" hr1. In the meantime, broadcasting via DAB had also been discontinued, as with all other plus programs. From this point on, reception was only possible via medium wave and satellite.

On June 30, 2003 the program was discontinued for cost reasons, the medium wave frequency was taken over by hr-skyline (later hr-info ), which will continue parts of the chronos program on medium wave until the end of 2009.
