Hubert Bergant

Hubert Bergant (born November 13, 1934 in Kamnik , † 1999 in Nova Gorica ) was a Yugoslav or Slovenian organist, pianist and university teacher.

Hubert Bergant completed his piano studies at the Ljubljana Music Academy in 1959 . In 1960 he obtained his organ diploma. As a musician he devoted himself primarily to the organ works of Johann Sebastian Bach , whose complete works he performed in a series of concerts.

Bergant, who taught at the Music Academy, was for a long time the only university professor for organ in Slovenia. He has trained a whole generation of younger organists (including Ema Zapušek, Renata Bauer). He was involved in the planning of the Walcker organ in the Maribor Cathedral and the large Schuke organ in the Ivan Cankar concert hall in Ljubljana .
