Hubert Irsigler

Hubert Irsigler (born August 26, 1945 in Oberschönhub, Kaplitz / Böhmerwald district , Czechoslovak Republic ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian ( Old Testament scholar ).

Life

Hubert Irisgler studied Catholic theology and oriental studies at the universities in Munich and Tübingen . In 1976 he was awarded a Dr. theol. PhD. In 1983 he completed his habilitation in Munich with a work on Psalm 73. In 1986 Irsigler was appointed full professor for Old Testament sciences at the University of Bamberg . In 1998 he took over Lothar Ruppert's chair for Old Testament literature and exegesis at the University of Freiburg . In 2011 he retired.

In addition to exegetical works, Irsigler also published a language course for Biblical Hebrew .
