Hubert M. Blalock

Hubert Morse "Tad" Blalock , Jr., (born August 23, 1926 in Baltimore , Maryland ; † February 8, 1991 in Bellevue , Washington ) was an American sociologist who mainly dealt with sociological measurement theories.

Blalock was born into the family of a wealthy manufacturer's daughter and an employee of the Aetna insurance company. After finishing school, he attended Dartmouth College for a semester in 1944 before joining the US Navy at 18 .

In 1975 Blalock was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences , and in 1976 to the National Academy of Sciences . 1978/1979 he was the 70th president of the American Sociological Association . He taught as a professor at the University of Washington .
