Hubert Neu (born March 4, 1953 in Rockenhausen ) is a former German football player and coach .

Player career

Hubert Neu began playing football at the age of eight at FV Rockenhausen. From there he moved in 1970 as a junior to 1. FC Kaiserslautern , for which he was active for three years. In the 1974/75 season Neu played for Hassia Bingen . In the 1975/76 season he played in the third-class association league Westphalia for Hammer SpVg and in the following season at SV Wiesbaden and then at Eintracht Bad Kreuznach , after it was relegated to the amateur league southwest . From 1977 to 1983 he was again active for Hassia Bingen, at times as captain. In 1981 and 1982 he was part of the Southwest selection that won the country cup .

He was also active at 1. FSV Mainz 05 .

Coaching career

Hubert Neu began his coaching career parallel to his active career as coach of the U-19, U-17 and U-15 of Hassia Bingen. He completed his dual studies with a degree in business administration and a certified sports teacher and acquired a football instructor license. From 1983 to 1985 he was Timo Zahnleiter's assistant trainer and amateur trainer at SV Darmstadt 98 and from 1985 to 1991 amateur trainer and youth coordinator at Eintracht Frankfurt . During this time he also worked for the first team as assistant coach to Dietrich Weise , Karl-Heinz Feldkamp , Pál Csernai and Jörg Berger . In 1991/92 he was Robert Jung's assistant coach at the second division club 1. FSV Mainz 05 . From 1993 he worked as an assistant coach at Bundesliga club FC Schalke 04 , where he had already represented head coach Jörg Berger in the dugout on two match days in the 1995/96 season. After Berger's dismissal, he was interim coach from October 4 to 8, 1996, until Huub Stevens was hired as head coach, and headed another Schalke game against Karlsruher SC (0: 1) as a coach. In the same season Schalke 04 won the UEFA Cup . At the end of the 1998/99 season he left the club.

In 1999 he went to 1. FC Kaiserslautern to work as assistant coach under Otto Rehhagel . Later he changed position within the club, became head of the FCK youth center Fröhnerhof and worked as a scout. In the summer of 2007, Neu was released from his duties. The reason for this was the pre-stressed relationship with the newly signed sports director Michael Schjønberg , who came from Schjönberg's active time at FCK with Neu as assistant coach.

He was an observer for the national coach of Greece , Otto Rehhagel . From November 5, 2009 to the end of the 2009/10 season, he was coach at the major division Hassia Bingen . Hubertus Neu has been working as a sports teacher at the Martinus School Oberstadt in Mainz since the 2009/10 school year . He is married and has one daughter.
