Hubert Ritt

Hubert Ritt (born March 2, 1942 in Leoben ) is a German-Austrian theologian, priest and pastor. He is professor emeritus for New Testament exegesis at the Catholic-Theological Faculty of the University of Regensburg .

Life

Ritt studied philosophy and Catholic theology in Leuven (Belgium) from 1961 to 1966 and was ordained a priest on July 10, 1966 in Graz (Austria) . In 1968 he received his doctorate in Löwen. phil. and in 1970 in Graz as Dr. theol. In 1971 he obtained the “Licentia in re biblica” from the Pontifical Biblical Institute , and in 1976 he completed his habilitation in 1976 at the University of Würzburg in New Testament exegesis under Rudolf Schnackenburg . Ritt then worked as a private lecturer in Würzburg and Tübingen, before becoming professor for the New Testament in Wuppertal, Münster and Bonn from 1982 . In 1990 he became professor for New Testament exegesis at the University of Regensburg, and from 1992 to 1995 he was also the dean of the faculty.

Univ.-Prof. GDR. Hubert Ritt is a member of the Pontifical Biblical Commission in Rome (Vatican) and is responsible for questions of method in New Testament exegesis.

Pastoral care

Since his ordination, Ritt, who was incardinated in the diocese of Würzburg in 1981 , has always been active in pastoral care. He is also involved in building pastoral care in the Czech Republic . Ritt was pastor in Oberdürrbach from 1977 to 1982 , pastor in Würzburg- Sankt Bruno from 1995 to 1999, pastor from 1999 in Schärding (Austria) and from 2001 also pastor (parish provisional) in Wernstein am Inn ( Diocese of Linz ).

Since May 1st 2010 Rev. Univ.-Prof. GDR. Hubert Ritt Pastor in Grinzing ( Archdiocese of Vienna ).
