Hubert Steinhaus

Hubert Steinhaus (born July 16, 1932 in Gladbeck ; † March 12, 2012 in Altenberge ) was a German educationalist . He was best known for his work on educational and school history.

Life

Hubert Steinhaus was born on July 16, 1932 in Gladbeck . After graduating from high school in 1952, he studied at the Pedagogical Academy in Essen and then worked for six years as a primary school teacher at a rural school in the Borken district . He obtained his doctorate in 1965 on the subject of "The image of the educating teacher in the German educational movement" at the University of Münster. After an assistant at the German Institute for Scientific Pedagogy and lectureships for general pedagogy at the PH Ruhr in Dortmund and at the Comprehensive University of Duisburg, he completed his habilitation with a paper on "Pedagogy of National Socialism". He was then appointed full professor at the Münster University of Education, which was incorporated into the University of Münster in 1980. Here he was also the dean of the new educational science department. In addition to his academic work, he has emerged in public as a sponsor of contemporary art and through his collaboration with the Münster - Ryazan city ​​partnership .
