Hubert Willi Klein

Hubert Willi Klein (* 1949 in Oberplag , Asbach ) is a German engineer . He became known through the use of numerical calculation methods in apparatus and plant construction .

Life

He is the son of the railway pioneer Matthias Klein and his wife Elisabeth, b. Schütz, from Peterslahr . After graduating from the Martinusgymnasium in Linz am Rhein, there followed two years as an officer candidate for the Federal Border Guard in Eschwege and Grafenau. He then began studying civil engineering at RWTH Aachen University , which he completed in 1976 as a graduate engineer . First work at Interatom in Bensberg for the KNK II reactor in the Karlsruhe nuclear research center ; scientific assistant at the chair for mechanics with Carl Heinz; 1983 PhD on an explicit solution method for the simulation of short-term physical processes in non-linear material. From 1984 to 1989 he worked in Munich for Linde AG in the design of pressure vessels and apparatus for chemical plant construction, most recently as head of the structural mechanics department. From 1990 to 2002 he was professor for (technical) mechanics at the University of Paderborn . Since 2002 he has been professor for technical mechanics, apparatus construction, finite elements at the South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences in Meschede . In 2008 he founded the Steinbeis Transfer Center for Lightweight Construction Technology in Meschede. Klein was a member of various committees of DIN and CEN, u. a. 20 years on the advisory board of the DIN standards committee for fittings.
