Career

Witting made his international debut in the 1958 Christmas jumping event on the small Olympic hill in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , which he won with jumps on 47.5 and 50 meters ahead of Edi Heilingbrunner . Thereupon he denied the opening competition of the Four Hills Tournament 1958/59 in Oberstdorf just a few days later . However, after he only reached rank 42, he broke off the tour after just one jump and finished 56th overall.

In the following Four Hills Tournament in 1959/60 he started with rank 18 in Oberstdorf and thus achieved the best individual result of his career during the tour. After a 31st place on the Great Olympic Hill in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Witting again achieved two top 30 placements in Innsbruck and Bischofshofen . In the overall ranking he reached 19th place with 773.1 points.

In the following year at the Four Hills Tournament 1960/61 Witting competed again in Oberstdorf, but did not get above 62nd place and was only 74th in the overall ranking.

Witting still lives in Garmisch-Partenkirchen today and runs a holiday apartment there with his wife.
