Hubertus Borck

Hubertus Borck (born February 28, 1967 in Lübeck ) is a German cabaret artist , copywriter, screenwriter and playwright . He gained nationwide fame as the creative head of the Hamburg music-cabaret duo Bo Doerek .

Career

Borck began his artistic career in the mid-1980s as a musical performer at the Theater des Westens in Berlin, at the opera houses in Dortmund, Düsseldorf and Duisburg, at the Landestheater Linz, the Bremen Theater and the Nationaltheater Mannheim.

In 1995 he founded the music cabaret Duo Bo Doerek with Alexandra Doerk , which provided Corny Littmann with an artistic home with the Schmidt Theater and Schmidts Tivoli .

Bo Doerek became an integral part of the German comedy scene.

In the following years Borck wrote eight full-length theater productions for the duo, who not only toured throughout Germany, but also performed in Austria and Switzerland. Borck worked as a songwriter a. a. with Joachim Schlüter , Stephanie Hundertmark , Edda Schnittgard and Reggy Clasen .

After a last tour, Bo Doerek separated and after 12 years together said goodbye to their audience with a gala on May 21, 2007 in Schmidts-Tivoli.

In parallel to his stage work, Borck began working as a writer for TV series in the early 2000s. So he wrote scripts a. a. for Good Times Bad Times, Paths to Happiness and the NDR production Rote Rosen .

But Borck remained loyal to the theater. In 2009 he conceived the Itzehoe-Paris show for Diana Böge, who had been the German star in the Paris Lido in previous years . He produced this theater evening at the Schmidt Theater in Hamburg and also directed it.

In 2017 Borck wrote Hello again - or what else we had to say . With this production, Bo Doerek remembered their separation ten years earlier and celebrated with their fans in the sold out Schmidt Theater.

On behalf of the First Stage Theater Hamburg, Borck developed and wrote the satirical hit comedy Twice Around the World in 2020 - or where does Oma want to go , for which he also took over the direction and was responsible for the set and costumes. The first game series became a sold-out success for the First Stage Theater. Additional shows throughout April 2020 fell victim to the theater closure due to the corona pandemic.

The press wrote about this premiere:

Borck has “… a warm-hearted, cheeky, sometimes crazy and really nasty piece of current music theater. (...) This trip is ambiguous, but conciliatory and above all original fun. ”(Hamburger Abendblatt).

“The creativity with which this production was brought to the stage is already evident in the first vocal number. (...) she impresses with a lot of puns and very sympathetic characters. (...) This world premiere proves once more that there are authors in Germany who can write entertaining, short-lived musicals. (Musical magazine)

“The story (…) gives author Hubertus Borck a lot of leeway, which he uses for successful satire, socially critical allusions and sarcastic tips. He skillfully interweaves these with comical (...) scenes and creates an amusing and often only at first glance easy-going theater evening. (Theaterliebe.com)
