Regy Clasen
Regy Clasen (actually Regine Clasen ; * July 26, 1971 in Hamburg ; † March 28, 2020 there ) was a German chanson , pop and soul singer and songwriter .
Life
Clasen came from a family of musicians (father a music teacher, mother an organist) and was the youngest of seven siblings. After attempts with different groups, she joined the Hamburg a cappella formation Five live in 1991 , which was one of the most successful groups in this genre in the mid-1990s.
With the death of their Five-Live colleague and friend Conny Stahl in 1997, the group fell apart. Regy Clasen wrote lyrics for her first own CD So nah , which was released in 2000 and contained a song recorded with the guitarist Dominic Miller with Ergib Dich . Since then she has been traded as an insider tip in the German-speaking chanson scene, which cast a spell over the audience with her warm, whispering voice, soulful lyrics and pop music based on rhythm 'n' blues and soul. In 2004 her second CD followed, Wie deep ist das Wasser, and in 2007 the live DVD Regy Clasen Live in the Schmidt Theater . In 2005 she participated with the song Heimlich zur Nacht in the project album I dream so quietly of you with texts by the poet Else Lasker-Schüler .
Besides appearances with her own band, she sang in the background of Stefan Gwildis and worked with other musicians (e.g. Bernd Begemann , Dirk Michaelis , Michy Reincke , Wolfgang Stute , Richard Wester ).
Regy Clasen was also the voice behind the songs or jingles in numerous radio and TV commercials. She added the song Free for the beer type Jever Lime to her own repertoire with a different text than Ich hab 'Zeit zu los'n .
She succumbed to a long illness on March 28, 2020 after spending the last part of her life in a hospice in Hamburg-Altona .
