Hubertus Thoma

Hubertus Thoma (* 1958 in Munich ) is a German diplomat who was ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Haiti between 2005 and 2008 .

Life

After graduating from the Albert Einstein Gymnasium in Munich in 1977, Thoma began studying law and Romance languages . He then began his preparatory service for the higher foreign service and, after completing his attaché training in 1986, found employment at the headquarters of the Federal Foreign Ministry and various diplomatic missions abroad. In 2005, Thoma succeeded Gordon Kricke as Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Haiti and held this post until 2008, after which Jens-Peter Voss became his successor there. During his tenure as ambassador, he supported numerous aid projects, in particular to improve medical care for the Haitian population.

Thoma, who is married, deals in his free time with the life and work of the chamber singer Leo Slezak .
