The Roman Catholic Church of St. Hubertus ( lux . : St. Hubert Kierch or St. Haubert Kierch , French : Église Saint-Hubert , also: lux . : Haupteschkierch vun Dummeldeng , German : Hauptkirche zu Dommeldingen) in Dommeldingen in Luxembourg City belongs to the Deanery of Luxembourg ( lux .: Dean's Office Lëtzebuerg ) and thus to the Archdiocese of Luxembourg (lux .: Äerzbistum Lëtzebuerg ), which includes the entire Grand Duchy of Luxembourg .

The patron saint of the church is Saint Hubertus of Liège (lux .: Hubert vu Léck or Hauptert vu Léck , French: Hubert de Liège ), whose feast is celebrated on November 3rd.

history

The current church dates from 1891 and replaced a chapel built in 1777. In 1949 the church was restored. In 1951 Hans Lechner furnished it with a crucifixion scene.

From 1970 to 1972 the church was adapted to the liturgical specifications of the Second Vatican Council . In 1984 and 1985 the interior was renovated and consecrated again on July 14, 1985 by Archbishop Jean Hengen .

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the church, the church council decided on May 16, 1990 to buy a third bell. It was consecrated on December 21, 1991 by Archbishop Fernand Franck . The bells ring in the striking notes c – a – g.

organ

The organ of the chapel of Dommeldingen was built in 1979 by master organ builder Herbert Schmidt, who lived in Luxembourg. The willow pipe register was added to the disposition on the advice of Abbé Jean-Pierre Schmit, the then diocesan expert for organs and bells . The register Pommer 8 ′ in the pedal was added later.
