Hugh Douglas of Douglas († 1289)
Hugh Douglas of Douglas (* before 1248, † 1289 ) was a Scottish nobleman from the Douglas clan .
He was the older son of Sir William of Douglas († 1274) and inherited this as laird of the feudal barony of Douglas including Douglas Castle .
On Palm Sunday , April 6, 1259, a prenuptial agreement on the marriage of Hugh to Marjorie Abernethy, sister of Sir Hugh Abernethy , was recorded at Edinburgh Castle . Apparently the bride and groom were still minors at that time, at least this contract was concluded between Hugh's father Sir William and Marjorie's brother Sir Hugh and regulated the couple's maintenance for four years - presumably until Hugh Douglas came of age.
He probably died childless at the latest in early 1289, at least from January 12, 1289 his younger brother William "le Hardi" Douglas is recorded as Laird von Douglas.
