Hugh Kennedy ( Irish Aodh Ó Cinnéide , born July 11, 1879 in Dublin , † December 1, 1936 ) was an Irish politician of the Cumann na nGaedheal , first attorney general of Ireland and first chief justice ( chief justice ) of the Supreme Court .

biography

Kennedy studied after school attendance law and was after graduating as a Barrister operates.

On 7 December 1922, he became the first Attorney General ( Attorney General ) of the Irish Free State appointed. As such, he was instrumental in establishing the judiciary in Ireland. In addition, he was elected as a candidate for Cumann na nGaedheal to MP ( Teachta Dála ) of the Lower House ( Dáil Éireann ) and represented the constituency of Dublin South .

On June 5, 1924, he resigned as attorney general and resigned from the House of Commons after being appointed first chief justice of the Supreme Court. Hugh Kennedy held this office until his death.
