The Hughes Bluff is a striking and 310 m high cliff of rock and ice on the Scott-coast of the east Antarctic Victoria Land . It rises 10 km west of Cape Reynolds on the southern flank of the David Glacier .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it based on its own surveys and aerial photographs of the United States Navy in the years from 1957 to 1962. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names renamed it in 1968 by Garrett A. Hughes, 1966 as part of the United States Antarctic Research Program on the McMurdo station had carried out studies on cosmic rays .
