Hughie Thomasson (born August 13, 1952 in Tampa , Florida , † September 9, 2007 in Brooksville , Florida) was an American singer and guitarist.

In 1972 Thomasson was one of the founders of the southern rock band The Outlaws , whose singer and guitarist he was. The band broke through in 1974 when they opened up for Lynyrd Skynyrd at a concert in Columbia, Georgia. Thomasson wrote most of the songs for the outlaws, including a. Green Grass and High Tides or Hurry Sundown . After the band broke up, he was a member of Lynyrd Skynyrd between 1996 and 2005 . In 2005 the Outlaws got together again and went on tour together.

Hughie Thomasson died of heart failure on September 9, 2007.
