Hugo Bigi

Hugo Bigi (born August 16, 1926 in Wangen SZ ; † April 8, 2010 in Lachen SZ ) was a Swiss accordion and Schwyzerörgelist from the March district in the Swiss canton of Schwyz .

Life

The son of a bricklayer , who immigrated from Italy to Switzerland in 1911 , taught himself to play the Schwyzerörgel at kindergarten age and later took accordion lessons from a Fridolin Feldmann. 1928–1949 he interpreted dance music with his own trio "The Original Hugues" (Hugues = Hugo) with the line-up accordion / piano / drums . In 1947/49 he also played the accordion in the Martin Beeler band .

In 1949 the Ländlerkapelle Hugo Bigi was founded, which played clarinet or saxophone / accordion / piano / bass violin in the concert style of Central Switzerland in the widespread line-up .

Before his retirement, Hugo Bigi was employed in a furniture company and also worked as a music teacher .
