Hugo Eberle

Hugo Eberle (born December 26, 1870 in Nordhausen , † March 3, 1949 in Görlitz ) was a German trade unionist and social democratic politician.

Life

After elementary school he was a cigar worker. He was a member of the German Tobacco Workers' Association and the SPD. Between 1900 and 1905 he was the reporter for the Thuringian tribune for Nordhausen. From 1902 he was also chairman of the Nordhausen trade union cartel . Between 1905 and 1912 he worked as a full-time secretary for the main board of the tobacco workers' association in Bremen . After that he was district party secretary of the SPD for Lower Silesia with headquarters in Görlitz until 1933 . Since 1914 he was also a member of the central party committee of the SPD.

In vain he ran for the Reichstag and the Weimar National Assembly in 1912 and 1919, respectively . From 1919 to 1932 he was a member of the Prussian state assembly and the Prussian state parliament . Between 1919 and 1921 he was also a member of the town council in Görlitz .

After the end of the Second World War he was the senior president of the city council in Görlitz. He also wrote about the labor movement in Görlitz.

A street in Görlitz is named after him.
