Hugo Oscar Bizzarri

Hugo Oscar Bizzarri (* 1956 ) is an Argentinian Hispanist and has been a full professor at the University of Friborg (Switzerland) since 2002 .

Life

In 1980 he became Profesor en Letras at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata . As a scholar, he worked at the Instituto de Cooperación Iberoamericana from 1982 to 1984 . He continued his studies from 1982 to 1984 at the Complutense University of Madrid . The Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores y de Cooperación sponsored him in 1990 as a scholarship holder. He conducted research at CONICET from 1990 to 2003. In 1995, the Universidad de Buenos Aires awarded him the Doctor en Letras . As a visiting professor , he conducted research at the University of Paris IV (2018), the University of Geneva (2009 and 2018-2019), the École normal supérieure de Lyon (2008), the University of Lausanne (2004) and in the Herzog August Library Wolfenbüttel (2000) . From 1985 to 2003 he was assistant for Spanish literature of the Middle Ages at the University of Buenos Aires. During the same period (1985 to 2002) he was also a member of the Seminario de Edición y Crítica Textual . In 1997 he received another scholarship from the DAAD .

Since 2002 he has been a full professor for Hispanic Philology and Language History at the University of Friborg (Switzerland). Since then he has been President of the Medieval Institute of the University of Freiburg (2006–2008 and 2018–2020), President of the Sociedad Suiza de Estudios Hispánicos (2010–2011). Since 2011 he has been a member of the Centro para la Edición de Clásicos Españoles .

His research areas are the medieval collections of proverbs and sentences , the stories of the Middle Ages and the critical edition of texts.
