Hugo Pottebaum

Hugo Pottebaum (born March 29, 1907 in Ostbevern , † October 30, 1979 in Münster ) was a German local politician and honorary district administrator ( center and CDU ).

Life and work

After attending school, he studied mathematics , biology and physics from 1927 to 1931 . In 1941 he received his doctorate. rer. nat. Until his retirement he worked in school, most recently as senior director of studies.

Pottebaum was married and had four children.

He belonged to the district council of the Münster district from 1948 until it was dissolved as part of the regional reform on December 31, 1974. From January 1975 to 1979 he was a member of the Münster City Council .

From 1953 to 1975, Potteries tree member of the Regional Assembly of the Regional Association of Westphalia-Lippe .

From November 15, 1948 to December 31, 1974 he was District Administrator of the former Münster district. Pottebaum was active in various committees of the district council of North Rhine-Westphalia .

On November 13, 1968 he was awarded the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. In addition to this award, Pottebaum received various other awards, such as B. the Knight's Cross of the Papal Order of Gregory and the Paul Plaque of the Diocese of Münster.

In Münster-Handorf, Hugo-Pottebaum-Platz (formerly Kirchplatz) was named after him.
