from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hungária was a Hungarian rock band that was formed in Budapest in 1967 . The head of the group was Miklós Fenyő.

Career

Musically, the band began with psychedelic rock . In 1968 they took first place in the television quiz program Who knows what and won the audience award at the Hungarian dance song festival. From 1971 the group was also very successful in the GDR . Appearances in the youth program around followed. In 1973, at the 10th World Festival , they took part in the DT64 gala program. In 1973, Hungaria toured the Soviet Union for three months with Kati Kovács and produced a German-language LP with Amiga .

In 1978 Hungária recorded an album with cover versions of Beatles songs. From 1980, the group dedicated itself to rock'n'roll in the style of the 1950s and early 1960s. In 1985 Fenyő re-formed the group after a two-year break, this time as a rockabilly band ( Van aki forrón szereti ). The following year Fenyő formed the band, which was now called Modern Hungária , again. In 1989 the group disbanded. In the 1990s there was a brief Hungária revival . In Germany the records of the group are considered rarities and are very difficult to get.
