Hydac is a group of companies that has specialized in the manufacture and sale of components and systems as well as services for the industrial areas of hydraulics / fluid technology and electronic control technology. 15 independent individual companies operate under the Hydac brand.
History and structure
The first Hydac company was founded in 1963 as a hydraulic accessories company. In 2015 the international group of companies had around 9,000 employees, 50 branches and 500 trading and service partners worldwide. The majority of the companies are based in Sulzbach ( Saarland ).
The company with the highest turnover in the Hydac Group is Hydac Technology GmbH with a turnover of 445.6 million euros and 384 employees (2014).
Hydac International GmbH with 466 employees and € 75.9 million in sales (2014) now only provides sales services within the group.

In January 2013, the group of companies took 143rd place in the ranking of the 500 largest family businesses in Germany by the Wirtschaftsblatt magazine .
criticism
In October 2015, IG Metall expressed criticism of the corporate structure of the Hydac Group and its negative effects on employees. The division of the group into many individual companies was particularly criticized. This would u. a. undermine the provisions of the Part-Time and Fixed-Term Employment Act. Chain fixed-term contracts are also possible for fixed-term employment contracts. It was also criticized that Hydac regularly founds new companies when the number of employees in a company approaches the 500 mark. Attempts should be made to prevent employees from having a say in the supervisory board. Hydac denied the allegations.

In addition to components, sub-systems and complete systems for hydraulics, lubrication, purity of fluids and process engineering, Hydac designs “turnkey” control and drive systems including electronic controls for mobile and stationary machines and systems in various industries. The offer is supplemented by services in the areas of commissioning, maintenance, repair of third-party products, fluid technology and analysis, engineering support and system optimization.
Research and Development
Hydac operates its own research and development center for fluid technology on an area of 2,400 m².
