Hydatius of Emeritia
Hydatius of Emeritia († before 392) was a bishop of Emerita Augusta (today: Mérida ) in southwestern Spain. He sued the Priscillianists at Damasus I and 380 before the Synod of Saragossa . Against the opposition of his own clergy he reached by Emperor Gratian a rescript against them and caused 385 under Emperor Magnus Maximus after Priscillian on the Synod of Trier of sorcery and Manichaeism had accused its execution . Because of this procedure he was put under pressure in 389 to voluntarily resign his episcopate. He later tried to get it back.
