Hyles stroehlei is a butterfly ( moth ) fromthe swarm family (Sphingidae).

features

The moths have a wingspan of 55 to 70 millimeters. They look similar to a dark-colored hybrid between milkweed hawks ( Hyles euphorbiae ) and sea buckthorn hawks ( Hyles hippophaes ), but individual animals collected over years and an mtDNA analysis suggest that this is a valid species. Some individuals may look similar to Hyles euphorbiae robertsi .

Occurrence and way of life

The species has been identified from the Hindu Kush and Kohistan in Pakistan between 2,400 and 4,300 meters above sea level. The moths fly from late June to early July. Little is known about the pre-imaginal stages, nor about the way of life or any parasitoids .
