control
Up to four players can compete against each other. It is usually played alternately, in running disciplines two play at the same time.
To run, you have to press two buttons in quick succession. A third button can be used to throw or jump. In order to be able to run faster, aids were often used, e.g. B. used a lighter that was rubbed over the buttons. On home computers, the space bar or shaking the joystick back and forth is often responsible for running. As a result, the buttons or the joystick were often worn out. The game is a typical button masher .
music
The music was programmed by Shigeru Fukutake; the final title is called Chariots of Fire and comes from Vangelis . Said piece of music is the title melody of the film of the same name (German: The hour of the winner ), for whose film music Vangelis was awarded the Oscar in 1982 .
The individual results are announced in the arcade version by a female voice.
