The division of living beings into systematics is a continuous subject of research. Different systematic classifications exist side by side and one after the other. The taxon treated here has become obsolete due to new research or is not part of the group systematics presented in the German-language Wikipedia.

Hypocrea was a genus of mushrooms from the family of the crustball relatives . The widespread genus contains an estimated 171 species that live on rotting wood and are often associated with other fungi. Anamorphic generaassociatedwith Hypocrea include a. Acremonium , Gliocladium , Trichoderma and Verticillium . Hypocrea was described in 1825 by the mycologist Elias Magnus Fries . Due to changes in the nomenclature code , the generic name Trichoderma wasproposedas a noun conservandum , which shouldbe preservedcompared to the teleomorphic genus Hypocrea . This means that all species that have both a Hypocrea and a Trichoderma name are officially listed under their Trichoderma names, and that any species that was exclusively described as Hypocrea has been transferredto the genus Trichoderma .
