OE Erikss. & Winka |
The Hypocreomycetidae are a subclass of the sac fungi .
features
The fruiting bodies are mostly light-colored perithecia , less often celistothecia. Most of the representatives lack real paraphyses . Periphysoids occur. The asci are unitunicate or pseudoprototunicate.
Systematics
The Hypocreomycetidae are a well-supported monophyletic group, their sister group are the Sordariomycetidae. Hibbett et al. (2007) divide the subclass into the following orders:
- Coronophorales
- Crust ball mushrooms (Hypocreales)
- Melanosporales
- Microascales
Zhang et al. established the following cladogram , which also contains some isolated taxa:

In 2017 the following regulations were accepted for the subordination:
- Order Coronophorales
- Order Microascales (including Holosphaeriales)
- Order glomerellales
- Order spherical crusty mushrooms - Hypocreales
- Order Falcocladiales
- Order Torpedosporales
The former order Melanosporales with the only genus Melanospora is now included in the order of the Coronophorales.
