Horst Piepenburg

Horst Piepenburg (born March 9, 1954 in Rees am Niederrhein) is a German lawyer . He works as a lawyer and insolvency administrator in Düsseldorf .

Horst Piepenburg studied from 1974 to 1978 law at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . From 1974 to 1982 he headed the FDP local association in Rees . He completed his legal clerkship in Düsseldorf before joining Dieter Zirpins' office in 1982.

In 2001 he founded the Piepenburg - Gerling law firm . From 1982 to 2013 Horst Piepenburg handled over 2000 insolvency proceedings . Among other things, he was involved in the following restructuring proceedings:

Piepenburg was appointed the new chairman of the board on July 9, 2002 by the board of directors of the insolvent Babcock Borsig . He was able to reorganize the plant manufacturer with 22,000 employees in insolvency proceedings under self-administration .

After Axel Springer AG announced its withdrawal from the mail service provider PIN Group AG on December 14, 2007 , Horst Piepenburg was appointed as the new CEO and restructuring engineer on December 19, 2007.

When the large company Arcandor AG filed for insolvency on June 9, 2009 , the board appointed Piepenburg as general representative. In this function he was supposed to carry out a restructuring of Arcandor AG together with the provisional insolvency administrator, the Cologne lawyer Klaus Hubert Görg. However, Piepenburg resigned his mandate on July 16, 2009. The reason he gave was that he had been abandoned by the major shareholder of Arcandor AG, Sal. Oppenheim Bank. Nevertheless, he wants to continue to support the restructuring process of Arcandor AG as a consultant.

After the reform of the insolvency code in 2012, Horst Piepenburg was appointed trustee of Pfleiderer AG. He also held this position during the insolvency of IVG Immobilien AG. On May 12, 2017, the Bonn District Court appointed him preliminary insolvency administrator of Solarworld AG.

Piepenburg is married and has three children.
