Hysen Bytyqi

Hysen Bytyqi (born October 5, 1968 in Pristina ) is a Kosovar agronomist who introduced modern livestock breeding in Kosovo . He is Professor of Livestock Science and Vice Rector for Teaching and Academic Affairs at the University of Prishtina .

Live and act

After his school and agricultural training, Bytyqi became chairman of the Malisheva Regional Agriculture Association in 1994 , which comprised 45 communities. Bytyqi held this position until 1999. At the same time, he studied at the agricultural faculty at the University of Prishtina and obtained an agricultural diploma in livestock sciences (1991).

In 1999 and 2000, Bytyqi was the representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) as a national Kosovar consultant. He was responsible for the “Agriculture 1998” project, which handled the planning and distribution of seeds and agricultural goods for 1,400 farmers in Kosovo. From 2000 to 2003 Bytyqi was in the FAO responsible for the “Farm Reconstruction” (EFRP) project. The aim of the project, with a budget of several million US dollars, was to equip farmers in post-war Kosovo with livestock and machinery and to set up modern veterinary services and administrative organizations. At the same time, Bytyqi studied at the Agricultural University of Tirana , where he obtained a master's degree in livestock breeding in 2003.

From 2003 to 2004, Bytyqi was FAO's national consultant on improving education in rural Kosovo. From 2004 to 2007 he worked for an FAO project that supported women, young people and ethnic minorities in marketing and developed appropriate educational offers. In 2007 he also worked on a USAID project devoted to sheep breeding.

In 2006, he was with his work on the "livestock breeding and animal husbandry in Kosovo" at the University of Prishtina to Doctor of Sciences (Dr.sc.) PhD . In 2007 he entered the University of Prishtina as a professor with the aim of introducing livestock breeding as a subject. At the same time, in 2010 and 2011 he was a national consultant for the development of university curricula in Kosovo and, from 2007, was also responsible for coordinating research and development at the University of Prishtina. Since 2008, Bytyqi has been a key person in study program development and quality assurance in the University of Prishtina and Kosovo. From 2015/16, Bytyqi was political advisor to the Minister for Education, Science and Technology of the Republic of Kosovo, responsible for higher education and scientific research.

Bytyqi became an associate professor in 2012. He has been a full professor of animal breeding and husbandry since February 2017 . In 2017 he also became Vice-Rector for Quality Assurance at the university and since 2018 he has been Vice-Rector for Teaching and Study Affairs.
