Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc. is an American manufacturer of industrial trucks . It was founded in 2012 as a spin-off from NACCO Industries (or NACCO Materials Handling Group). In the United States, Hyster-Yale is the largest manufacturer of forklift trucks .
Hyster
Founded in Portland , Oregon in 1929 and renamed Willamette-Hyster shortly afterwards , the company initially manufactured wood grabs and winches . In 1935, series forklift truck production began with the BT model . In 1959, the Monotrol pedal was invented with the participation of Henry Dreyfuss . It allows the direction of travel and speed control with just one pedal . In 1989, Hyster was taken over by NACCO.
Yale
Yale was founded in 1844 by Linus Yale senior as a manufacturer of locks . In 1875 the production of industrial trucks was started. The lock manufacturer Yale has been part of the Swedish Assa Abloy since August 2000 . In 1985, Yale Materials Handling Corporation was taken over by NACCO.
