I'm from Barcelona is an indie pop band from Jönköping , Sweden . The band was founded in 2005 by Emanuel Lundgren and consists of 30 members. The use of instruments such as banjo , tuba or mandolin, which are rarely used in classic pop, is characteristic of the musicians' collective .
history
It only took a few weeks from the formation of the band to the release of the first EP. After Emanuel Lundgren had written some pop songs in the summer of 2005, he gathered 29 friends in the in-house recording studio. Shortly afterwards the material was presented live with all musicians under the name I'm from Barcelona . The band name refers to the British cult series Fawlty Towers , in which the Spanish waiter Manuel excuses his clumsiness with the phrase "I'm from Barcelona". After some hype in the blogosphere, the Swedish media also became aware of the band, which led to a record deal with the major label EMI .
