IBOT (handball tournament)

The International Biberach Easter Tournament (IBOT) is a youth indoor handball tournament that has been held annually at Easter in Biberach an der Riss since 1998 . It is played in the male and female C to A youth , this corresponds to an age of 14 to 19 years. The tournament begins on Good Friday with an opening ceremony in the sports hall of the Dollinger Realschule . The game starts on Saturdays and ends on Easter Monday . The tournament organizer is the Biberach gymnastics community.

IBOT 2011

The IBOT 2011 was with 94 participating teams and 264 games, the biggest tournament so far. In addition to national teams from Ireland and Switzerland, high-class club teams from all over Europe took part.

IBOT 2009

A new record was set with 90 participating teams. 1500 participants played 248 games. In 2009, the top-class Swiss national team was once again part of the male A youth team. However, they had to admit defeat in the final of the Göppingen handball academy . For the first time the male C-youth of the Russian elite team Medvedi Chechov was part of the game. However, they ended up with poor performance only under running. In 2009, the Irish selection teams delighted the audience for the second time. With the seventh place in the female B-youth the Irish Olympic Handball Association landed a nice success.

IBOT 2008

For the first time teams from Ireland took part, where handball has about the same meaning as cricket in Germany: a real fringe sport. But at least the boys of the male C-youth made it to a respectable 16th place out of 20 participants. After the DHB 2007, the southern German handball association used the tournament to train its junior referees this year.

IBOT 2007

For the tenth edition of the IBOT, a very high-class field with national teams from Romania , Austria , Switzerland , Lithuania and Germany competed in the male A-Youth . An international match between Germany and Switzerland took place in advance (33:30). However, SG Pforzheim / Eutingen secured victory in the tournament, beating Austria 18:17 in the final . At the mB, the RSZ Handball-Akademie Göppingen won against 1. VfL Potsdam after a long seven-meter shoot-out 29:28, the tournament of the male C-youth was won by TuS Steißlingen with 12:11 against the selection of the Esslingen / Teck district. In the girls' finals, RSZ Ostfildern beat JSG Burscheid-Witzhelden 8: 7, and TSV Birkenau's B girls won against the Esslingen-Teck district, whose representatives are also among the women C-Jugend had to admit defeat with 11:13, the opponent and tournament winner was the district selection Hegau-Bodensee.

The tenth IBOT was not only characterized by high-class teams, but also by excellent referees. The DHB sent five young referee teams who were spotted there for promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga. In addition, three finals were directed by the Pritschow / Pritschow Bundesliga team.

IBOT 2006

The IBOT took place from April 14th to 17th, 2006 for the ninth time. Teams and referees from France , Spain , Italy , Switzerland , Austria , Norway , Lithuania , Germany and, for the first time, a team from Africa, Algeria, took part. In view of the high-class international line-up, the tournament is considered to be the best-manned IBOT ever. In the case of the winners, teams that had already been favorites in the run-up prevailed.
