The ICC Champions Trophy 2009 was a one-day international cricket tournament that took place in South Africa between September 22nd and October 5th. In the final, Australia prevailed against New Zealand. The venues were the Wanderers Stadium and the SuperSport Park , both of which are located near Johannesburg .
Original plans
The tournament was originally supposed to take place in Pakistan in September 2008, but was postponed to October 2009 on August 24, 2008 due to the security situation. On February 1, 2009 the ICC decided that the tournament would not take place in Pakistan and awarded it to South Africa in March 2009.
