ICTP Ramanujan Prize
The ICTP Ramanujan Prize (official name: Ramanujan Prize for Young Mathematicians from Developing Countries ) is a mathematics prize that has been awarded since 2005 by the International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in Trieste , Italy , in memory of the Indian autodidact S. Ramanujan and is endowed with 15,000 US dollars . Retroactive to the previous year, each award is supported by the Norwegian Academy of Science and the funds of the Abel Prize .
The award honors researchers under the age of 45 from developing countries who have made a special contribution to their country in the scientific field or who have made a contribution to it. The winner - who is expected to give a lecture in the course of the ceremony - is determined by a five-member scientific committee, which is nominated beforehand in cooperation with the International Mathematical Union .
