Philibert Nang (born August 12, 1967 in Port-Gentil ) is a Gabonese mathematician who researches in the fields of algebraic analysis and algebraic geometry .

In terms of unique algebraic invariants he has significant Klassifikationstheoreme for equivariant - moduli calculated. His findings supplement the means of perverse sheaves ( s. "Perverse sheaves") findings of other mathematicians and thus open up new perspectives on the Riemann-Hilbert correspondence . In particular, he is interested in a classification of the modules that is compatible with the stratification that results from the spatial decomposition of special, pre-homogeneous vector spaces .

Life

Education and personal life

Nang completed his school education until 1987 in the cities of Lambaréné , Mitzic , Oyem , Bitam and in Gabon's capital Libreville . He then matriculated to study mathematics and physics at the Université des sciences et techniques de Masuku (USTM) in Franceville , where he obtained a Diplôme Universitaire d'Etudes Scientifiques (DUES) in 1989. After moving to France and switching to the Université Nancy-I , he received his bachelor's degree in mathematics there in 1990 and his maîtrise in pure mathematics in 1991 . In 1992 he was at the Pierre and Marie Curie University (Paris 6) in Paris the Master in pure mathematics.

There Nang was finally in on 15 November 1996 Louis Boutet de Monvel with the thesis D-modules holonomous réguliers liés au groupe of similitudes ( de. : Regular holonomic D-modules that are connected with similar groups ) PhD .

Philibert Nang has been married since December 23, 2013 and has several daughters.

Scientific career

Between September 1993 and June 1999, Nang worked as a research assistant (attaché temporaire d'enseignement et de recherche) at his Paris alma mater . He then returned to his home country and worked at the USTM in Franceville . Since October 2009 he has researched and taught as a professor at the École normal supérieure in Libreville and headed the Laboratoire de Recherche en Mathématiques there. On September 1, 2019, he moved to the South African University of Pretoria as an associate professor .

Nang is fully integrated into the international scientific community. For example, he took part in the International Mathematicians Congresses in Hyderabad in 2010 and in Seoul in 2014 . In March 2016 he attended a workshop on algebraic geometry funded by the German Research Foundation in the Senegalese capital Dakar and in June 2016 he was one of the speakers at a commemorative symposium for his doctoral supervisor Boutet De at the École normal supérieure de Paris (ENS Ulm) Monvel, organized by the Institut national des sciences mathématiques et de leurs interactions (INSMI) of the Center national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS). He also traveled in June 2017 at one of the University of Burgundy at the Institut des Hautes Etudes Scientifiques in Bures-sur-Yvette organized conference on the occasion Masaki Kashiwaras 70th birthday and visited the following month the Pan-African Congress of Mathematicians in Moroccan Rabat .

In addition, since 2002 Nang has had numerous international engagements as a visiting scientist - for example at the University of Tsukuba , at the International Center for Theoretical Physics , at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics , at the Institute des Hautes Études Scientifiques , at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research , am African Institute for Mathematical Sciences , at the Institute of Mathematical Sciences ( Chennai ) and at the Galatasaray Üniversitesi .

further activities

Philibert Nang has been the founding president of Société Mathématique du Gabon since 2013 . He is also a member of the International Center for Theoretical Physics and works as a consultant to the Pole of Research in Mathematics and their Applications in Information Security (PRMAIS) - an association of mathematicians from Sub-Saharan Africa dedicated to promoting mathematical teaching.
