The IMI plc , formerly Imperial Metal Industries , listed on the FTSE 250 Index, is a British company from Birmingham .
history
IMI plc dates back to the Kynoch primer factory from 1862. In 1918, after World War I , Kynoch joined forces with other companies such as Nobel Explosives, Eley Brothers and others to create Explosives Trades . In 1920 the name changed to Nobel Industries . In 1926 Nobel Industries merged with other companies to form Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI). The metal division, ICI Metals Division, was formed in 1962 as the subsidiary Imperial Metal Industries and floated on the stock exchange in 1962; initially with ICI as the main shareholder . In 1978 Imperial Metal Industries became independent from ICI.
The current CEO has been Roy Twite since March 1, 2019. His predecessor was Mark Selway. Mark Selway became Chief Executive Officer on January 1, 2014, succeeding Martin Lamb, who held the position from January 2001 to 2013.
