The Marmon Group is an American conglomerate that belongs to Berkshire Hathaway .
history
The Marmon Group goes back to the Colson Corporation which Jay and Robert Pritzker bought in 1953. After the takeover of Marmon-Herrington , the company was renamed the Marmon Group in 1964 . In 1976 the Cerro Corporation and in 1981 TransUnion were taken over. The Union Tank Car Company (UTLX) was also taken over via TransUnion . The company's finance division was sold to Madison Dearborn Partners in the 1990s . From 2007, the Pritzker family sold the company to Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway . In 2013, the "beverage dispensing" business was taken over by IMI plc .

The largest business area of the Marmon Group is the manufacture and rental of tank cars . This is done in the US under the Union Tank Car Company (UTLX) brand and in Canada as Procor .
In 2006 UTLX built a new production facility in Alexandria, Louisiana . Another plant is located in the east of Houston .
The Trackmobile company produces road-rail vehicles .
