history

Carl A. Norgren founded CA Norgren in his kitchen in October 1925 . The basis of the business was a new hose connection for compressed air lines that he had invented. His wife brought in the initial capital for the company. Business began in the winter of 1925/26. Carl A. Norgren develops other types of connectors and fittings. The company became a partner on March 1, 1926. Due to a lack of space, the company moved to Denver , this was the first relocation. With the move, the company needed more capital. Friends of Carl A. Norgren invested $ 12,100, and the company grew. In 1927 Norgren hired the first sales manager, and in 1928 the company rented the first factory building.

In 1929 Carl Norgren invented a spray gun that made it easier to oil coil springs . Up to now, the springs were lubricated with a brush, which had to be dipped spring by spring into a vessel with oil. A thousand pieces were sold within a short time.

After problems with lenders and shareholders were resolved in the early 1930s thanks to Anna Struble, Norgren's sister, the company moved to a newly built factory. Another seven factory buildings followed. The main plant with administration and archive was established in 1950 in Englewood, Colorado.

After the Second World War, Norgren entered international trade: branches were established in England (1949), Sweden (1950), West Germany (1958), Japan (1963), Italy (1965), India (1965), Argentina (1966) and Mexico (1967) bought or re-established.

The development in the 1950s made it necessary to enlarge the main factory. But even this factory was too small in the long run. In the end, Littleton was rebuilt, which benefited the pneumatic filter, regulator and compressed air lubricator business that Norgren had since moved into. A research laboratory and cafeteria were also built in Littleton.

In 1965 the company was ranked among the ten best companies in its branch. The criteria were work safety, technically mature products, specialist knowledge, competence and performance, factory equipment, working methods and working environment, and the working atmosphere.

In 1972 Norgren was bought by IMI based in Birmingham . Since then, Norgren has operated under the name IMI Norgren or, since 2003, in Germany under the name Norgren GmbH . This also includes Buschjost GmbH , IMI Norgren Automotive GmbH and Herion Systemtechnik GmbH .

IMI claims it has an annual turnover of 1.6 billion pounds sterling.
