IOC IPC IAKS

The competition is organized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Lausanne, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), Bonn, and the IAKS, Cologne. The award ceremony for this architecture prize, which is unique in the world, takes place on the occasion of the International IAKS Congress in conjunction with the International Trade Fair for Areas, Sports and Pool Facilities (FSB) in Cologne.

Sports facilities (new buildings, extensions or modernizations) that have been in operation for at least one year are awarded. This ensures that the award-winning sports facilities have already proven their suitability for everyday use in addition to a convincing design concept, successful urban and landscape integration, accessibility and other criteria.

The IPC / IAKS award , which was awarded at the same time, aims to promote the accessibility of sports facilities and all other buildings in order to give people with disabilities the opportunity to exercise or watch sports without restrictions and without barriers.

Since 2011, the IOC, IPC and IAKS have presented the "IOC / IPC / IAKS Architecture and Design Award for Students and Young Professionals".
