Hans Rosenwald

Hans Rosenwald (born January 17, 1907 in Bünde , Westphalia, † October 25, 1988 in Düsseldorf ) was a German-American musicologist.

Rosenwald studied at the Musikhochschule and the University in Berlin and continued his studies at the University of Heidelberg. From 1930 he worked at the Lessing University in Berlin, at the same time he also worked for radio.

In 1936 Hans Rosenwald emigrated to America, in Chicago he had been a lecturer in musicology since 1938 , and other positions took him to Valparaiso , Indiana and New York . He later became Dean of the Chicago Musical College and Editor of Music News .

One of his most important works is Who is Who in Music , which was published in 1940 and again in 1964.
