Franz-Josef Spalthoff
Franz-Josef Spalthoff (born July 19, 1923 in Gladbeck ; † November 4, 2004 in Bottrop ) was a German atomic manager and an important representative of the energy industry in the 1980s. He was also involved as a local politician and mayor.
Life
Franz-Josef gap Hoff attended from 1934 the grammar school in Gladbeck and was awarded the Notabitur drafted in 1942 into the Air Force, where he was used as a reconnaissance pilot. At the end of the war he was taken prisoner in Norway , from which he was released in the summer of 1945. In 1946 he made up his Abitur and studied electrical engineering from 1947 to 1952 at the Technical University of Darmstadt . In 1948 he became a member of the KDStV Nassovia zu Darmstadt in the CV .
Spalthoff began his professional career at the Mainz / Wiesbaden power plant and then moved to Siemens AG in Erlangen . After holding various positions, he was manager of a large power station of Rheinbraun AG . In 1969 he became head of the entire power plant division of RWE AG in Essen , and in 1977 he became general representative at the RWE energy group. In 1979, Spalthoff became the leading German manager in the energy industry as a member of the board of RWE.
Spalthoff became a member of the supervisory board of Gutehoffnungshütte (GHH) in 1987 and chairman of the supervisory board of Nukem GmbH in 1987, which was involved in the Hanau uranium scandal with its subsidiary Transnuklear GmbH from 1981 to 1987. Among other things, he was also a member of the supervisory board of the Krupp Group .
Franz-Josef Spalthoff was also involved as a local politician . From 1969 to 1974 he was mayor of the municipality of Brauweiler and from 1974 to 1979 after the municipal reorganization he was mayor of the municipality of Pulheim .
Spalthoff had been married to a doctor since 1957. The marriage produced three daughters.
