The international standard ISO 22000 is a worldwide standard for management systems for food safety.
Private-sector standards of similar content are e.g. B. IFS ( International Featured Standard ) of the German and French retail associations, BRC of the British Retail Consortium , Q&S , GlobalGAP , EFSIS, and FSSC 22000 , which is based on ISO 22000. In addition to the legally prescribed HACCP concept (see Regulation (EC) No. 852/2004), all standards and norms also require a quality management system similar to ISO 9001. In some cases, make extremely direct demands (e.g. on individual items of furniture). In return, ISO 22000 can also be applied to other companies involved in the food chain (e.g. pest controllers, manufacturers of additives, etc.). As an ISO standard, it can be used worldwide, while the requirements of the trade associations have more regional significance.
Certification
The certification is carried out by accredited certifiers, e.g. B. in Germany by Intertek , DQS , Lloyd's Register , SGS Institut Fresenius , SGS Germany or TÜV . This means that a third body formally states that a conformity assessment body has the competence to carry out certain conformity assessment tasks. According to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), 8206 certificates based on the ISO 22001 regulations had been issued internationally in 82 countries by the end of 2009.
