The IT Tower , or Tour ITT ( I nternational T elephone and T elegraph Corporation) is a high-rise building in the Belgian capital Brussels . It is located a little away from the city center on Avenue Louise / Louizalaan , directly across from La Cambre Abbey . Along with the Blue Tower and the Tour Louise , it is one of three skyscrapers built in the area during the 1960s and 1970s.

history

The construction of the tower took place at a time when Brusselsization seemed to have no limits. Despite many public complaints, construction of the building began in 1968. In 1971 the construction work was completed and the tower, then known as Tour ITT, officially opened. The building is almost 102 meters high and has 25 floors. The tower itself is only 80 meters high, the final height of 102 meters is only reached with the elevator shaft on the outside. At the time of completion, it was one of the tallest buildings in the city and the country and is still one of the tallest buildings in Belgium .

From November 12, 2013 to April 12, 2014, there was a restaurant called The C Experience on the roof of the elevator shaft . The room, which consisted entirely of glass walls and thus enabled a unique view of the city of Brussels, was open to guests for lunch and dinner.
