I Like Chopin is a song by the Italian singer Gazebo , which was released as a single on Baby Records in 1983 from his self-titled album. The music was composed by Pierluigi Giombini , the lyrics are by Gazebo himself. The song reached number one in various European charts.
Musically, recurring piano themes are woven into the disco song played with synthesizers , but without motifs from the Polish composer Chopin mentioned in the title . Gazebo commented on the text:
“(...) as far as the lyrics are concerned, they should create an atmosphere, a mood. I wanted to draw Chopin and his lover George Sand , a strong, passionate lady and famous writer of the time. You are walking in a park like in a painting by Renoir . They were different, but their love was so intense and true. "
Publication and reception
The song was released as a single on September 9, 1983 and reached number one in various European charts, including Germany , Austria and Switzerland . The piece also came in first in Italy, its home country. According to the awards, the single sold at least 250,000 times in Germany and 614,000 times in France .
The piece was also released in a 7:40 minute 12 ″ version (“Discomix”). There are also different instrumental versions: The B-side of the 12 ″ single contained a 7:55 minute long instrumental version. The B-side of the 7 "single also contained an instrumental version. In 1991 a long version of the piece was released.
