biography
Paul Mazzolini was born in Beirut, the son of an Italian diplomat . His mother Stephanie was a singer in the United States prior to their marriage . In 1974 he founded the school band Skunk Tussle in Los Angeles and gained his first experience in a theater group. In 1983 he successfully completed his studies in French literature in Rome and began to work with Paul Micioni. The very first song under the stage name Gazebo, Master Piece , was surprisingly successful in 1982 and was ranked 35th in Germany and even 5th in Switzerland.
Another hit followed in October 1983 with I Like Chopin , which was able to place high in many charts around the world and made it to number 1 on the German, Austrian and Swiss charts. A few weeks later the single Lunatic was in the top 10 in Germany and Switzerland and in the top 20 in Austria. In the same year Mazzolini wrote the lyrics to Dolce Vita , the hit of his compatriot Ryan Paris . He released this song as a single in 1988 in its own version.
With the single Telephone Mama , Gazebo had its last top 10 listing in Italy in 1984. Further CDs and singles followed ( Milky Way , Trotsky Burger ). To this day he has toured the world and released new albums. He also worked as a producer for other artists.
Mazzolini has been in a relationship with his partner Maria since 1988 and has two children with her.
In 2020, Gazebo recorded a new version of its classic "I Like Chopin" during the COVID-19 pandemic in Italy and dedicated the piece to the employees of Italian hospitals.
