I Musici de Montréal

I Musici de Montréal is a professional chamber orchestra from the Canadian city ​​of Montreal . The repertoire ranges from baroque to contemporary classical music.

The orchestra was founded in 1983 by Yuli Turovsky, who was conductor until the 2010/11 season. The first concert took place on November 8, 1984. The ensemble includes 13 musicians who are recruited from among graduates from McGill University , Université de Montréal and the Montreal Conservatory. In 2011 Jean-Marie Zeitouni became conductor of the chamber orchestra.

The orchestra has released over 40 records. Several of them have won awards such as 1988 with the Diapason d'or for the 14th Symphony of Shostakovich . So far the orchestra has performed in over 50 countries; The most famous venues include the Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall in New York , the Gewandhaus in Leipzig and the Tonhalle in Zurich .
