Ian Carmichael (actor)
Ian Carmichael , OBE (born June 18, 1920 in Kingston upon Hull , East Riding , Yorkshire , † February 5, 2010 in Esk Valley , North Yorkshire ) was a British actor .
In the 1950s and 1960s Carmichael took part in a number of films. In Germany he was v. a. best known for a number of BBC television screen adaptations of crime novels by British author Dorothy L. Sayers . Carmichael played the role of the noble private detective Lord Peter Wimsey . Some of these television films were also broadcast on German television.
