Ian Dyk (born September 15, 1985 ) is a retired Australian racing driver . He competed in the A1 Grand Prix series in 2007 .

Career

Dyk began his motorsport career in motocross in 1991 , where he was active until 1995. In 1996 he switched to karting , which he practiced until 2000. 2001 Dyk got into formula racing . He made his debut in Formula Ford New South Wales , in which he finished fourth the following season. In 2002 he also started in the Australian Formula Ford and finished 19th in the drivers' championship. In 2003 he stayed in the Australian Formula Ford and finished the season with a podium finish on the seventh championship place. He also made his debut in the Australian Formula 3 Championship and took part in two races. He achieved a podium placement and a fastest lap. In 2004 he contested 14 of 17 races in the Australian Formula 3 championship. He achieved three wins and finished the season in third place in the overall standings.

In 2005 Dyk gained experience in GT racing and took part in the Australian Porsche Carrera Cup . In addition, he appeared again in the Australian Formula 3 Championship and scored a victory in two participations. In 2006 he was active for half a season in the Australian Porsche Carrera Cup and finished eleventh overall with a podium finish.

In 2007 Dyk moved to the A1 Grand Prix and returned to formula racing. He took part in the last three race weekends for the Australian A1 team and took over the vehicle that was previously driven by Ryan Briscoe and Karl Reindler . In his very first race, Dyk achieved a podium finish with a third place. It remained his only one in the A1GP. His teammates had also previously achieved third place. After Dyk had taken part in an Australian Formula 3 event in the summer, he returned to the A1 Grand Prix in winter 2007/2008 . He started for the first four race weekends and achieved ninth place as the best result. For the rest of the season he was replaced by John Martin . Subsequently, Dyk was no longer active in any racing series.

After the end of his career as an active racing driver, Dyk was active as a driving instructor and is also a member of the Toyota Hilux Hero's , a stunt team.
