Ian Whyte (born September 17, 1971 in Bangor , North Wales ) is a Welsh actor and stuntman .

Life

Before his film and television career, Whyte, who is 2.16 meters tall, was a professional basketball player and played for the Newcastle Eagles .

Whyte is best known for the films Alien vs. Predator and its sequel , in which he embodied one of the Predators . In 2012 he played the last constructor in Ridley Scott's Prometheus in a supporting role.

In 2012, Whyte appeared in three episodes of the second season of the fantasy series Game of Thrones as Ser Gregor "the mountain" Clegane . The giant was previously played by Conan Stevens , from the fourth season Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson took over the role. Previously, he played one of the White Walkers in the first season in the prologue . In the third season of Game of Thrones he was briefly seen again as a White Walker , but his character was killed in the same episode by Samwell Tarly ( John Bradley-West ) with a dragon glass dagger. From seasons 3 to 6, as well as 7 and 8, he also played the giants Dongo and Wun Wun , respectively an undead giant.
